Art House Astoria is a non-profit music and art conservatory here in Astoria. We offer all kinds of classes for kids and adults (for a fee), but we often host free or donation-only community events. Art House Astoria wants to be a place of creativity on all levels and strives to be an active part of the growing Astoria arts community. We look forward to meeting lots of new Astoria neighbors over the next few months.

Sleep No More, Nitehawk Cinema, The Public Theater, St. Ann's Warehouse, PS 122, New Museum, MOMA, IFC, Film Forum, Park Avenue Armory.. Please add to the list of places and events featuring cultural, experimental happenings. I find most groups focused on eating out, happy hours or touristy pursuits. I tend toward the more challenging sometimes pricey places and events that make you feel and think or at least provide you with a cool experience. Seeking members about 25 to 45 to be among peers.

This is a group with only two requirements: love movies and love LGBT people. We want to bring LGBT movie fans in NY together to see new LGBT films and then discuss them over drinks. But since we love movies as much as we love LGBT people, we may also take in other independent or art house movies, regardless of gay characters or themes. Meeting times will vary depending on what's playing and when.

The Hiway Theatre Film Discussion Group takes place on the 2nd Monday of each month in the theater immediately following the 7 pm screening of the current film. Discussions are led by Adrienne Redd, experienced film discussion leader, lecturer and professor. The discussions are open to the public and free with paid admission. There is no charge to attend the discussion only.

Let's watch all those movies critics rave about. We do not have to agree with the critics, and often I don't, but their reviews are a good way to weed out a lot of stuff I definitely do not want to see.
