Unlike most other film meetup groups, the focus of this one is less on Hollywood / major film studio blockbusters and more on intelligent, thought-provoking, alternative cinema - i.e. contemporary and classic world cinema, arthouse, documentaries, independent ('low budget') and short films. Featured screenings (and post-film discussions) take place at a variety of cinemas/venues in and around London. If there is demand, there will also be the opportunity to attend other film-related events, such …
Are you fed up with watching films in Vue & Cineworld? Would you rather get your film-buzz on an independent cinema with a bit of soul to it? Yeah? Me too! The kind of places we would go to are The Electric in Notting Hill or The Gate or The Coronet. Clapham Picture House too & all the Curzon cinemas as well. If you know one Ive missed out then shout out & share the knowledge. We'll see all sorts of films - big Hollywood blockbusters to Art house from wherever, again let me know & we can see wha …

For: Lovers of Asian cinema, be it retro Kung Fu or latest award winning arthouse or just your average cinema goer who want to know more about Far East Films What we like to do: Gather, talk, drink, watch films, some are pre-release, some are current, some are undiscovered gems, and others might be classics that are worth seeing again. Tell each other about things we discovered or news of films in production worth talking about. Enjoy ourselves!
We are a group who love all things documentary. Films that make a difference are our bag! Whether you're a film maker, promoter or enthusiast, come to our Meetups if you'd like to make important films, gain exposure/screen your own films, attend/lead a workshop, see films with some like minded people, or just chat about films over a drink. This group enjoys watching films that matter, talking about them and learning about documentary and factual filmmaking. We have at least two meetups each mo …
Join to meet people and see movies! We vote on what film to see monthly, meet up for a showing and go for a drink to discuss! Simple as that! There are also smaller sub-meetups for less known and arthouse and indie films. We're not film snobs in this group- we see both thoughtful, foreign language films at indie cinemas and 'leave your brain at home' Hollywood blockbusters at multiplexes. Personally it depends on my mood. So if you like films, come along, watch a film and discuss it over a drink …
The electric fleapit film club meets once a month to go to the cinema and talk about film. We meet at independent or heritage cinemas to support the smaller cinema industry and to keep heritage cinemas alive. We take it in turns to choose cinemas and films. We meet up before / after the film to discuss the brilliance or the bullshit. We (you) write reviews about the film for www.electricfleapit.com . You can comment and join the discussion if you can’t make the meet-up.
… That's not to say it'll all be foreign language arthouse, or Darren Aranofskyesque. Some of my favourite films are frowned on by "those that know" Have a look at the calendar; see if there's anything that takes your eye; come along and give it a go. If there's not, get in touch with your suggestions. It's that easy Just to warn you, I intend to collect an annual membership fee of £5 at people's second event, to cover the cost of running the group. I will keep a note say you don't pay twice, hon …
