What: Valerie and Her Week of Wonders
When: Thursday, November 1, 7:00 PM

Details: A surrealistic, dream-like Czech coming-of-age fantasy, complete with vampires, doppelgangers, sinister characters, and shimmering maidens. The film's soundtrack will be performed live by The Valerie Project, a Philadelphia-based chamber-rock ensemble.

What: Dog Star Man

Details: Stan Brakhage?s silent phantasmagorical underground classic, in which ?a woodsman climbs a mountain, struggles with a tree, has a sexual daydream, continues to struggle with the tree, falls back down the mountain...a colossal lyrical adventure dance of image in every variation of color.?

Details: This unusual ?film opera? is set in a decaying Polish apartment. A mother, father, and son grow older by the day, but their 'reality' blossoms with the poetics of fantasy: milk spurts from the table, leaves sprout from a cracked shower wall, and in autumn deer invade their living room, to hide in the wheat that's grown through the carpet.
