The SF Int'l Film Fest did not come to Palo Alto this year, nevertheless South Bay/Peninsula folks are in for a film treat, as on Monday we will be attending Stanford's Mediterranean Film Festival to see a freescreening of The Trap/Klopka - tense, visually mesmerizing and with a strong visual sense of immediacy, it was Serbia's Oscar entry.

Film @ 7pm, meetup after the film.

One man has to decide whether the love for his son runs deeper than his moral code and determine whether he has the courage to find an answer. In this emotionally grinding piece, three deprived and middling lives burst into chaos. The streets of Belgrade communicate the post-Socialist, every man for himself environment, as children beg for survival and shiny SUVs cruise by unfazed. In an era where money is at the heart of all evil, this family man falls to unfamiliar lows from his frustration over the scandalous proposal he's been offered to change the fate of his dying son. In a spiral of fear and hope and desperation, questions of morality are crucified and autopsied. As we watch, the man's suffering illuminates how complex some matters of principle can be.
